J. Terese Futch, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, began using her gift in the art of dance early in her childhood. This gift was not only used for school and church performances but other venues such as the Children’s Theatre of Memphis and later with the River City Ballet Company in which she played characters for many well-known local productions. Carlton Johnson, director of the River City Ballet Company, noticed her talent and encouraged her to venture outside of her comfort zone, expand her artistic abilities, and unleash any and all limitations. Taking heed to those words, she began to honor God by bestowing upon him the very special gift of dance that He had placed within her.
As she began to open up more, God also opened up a number of doors which allowed a great deal of exposure. After a part in the production, “Looking Back the Way We Were” she was offered the opportunity to relocate to Atlanta Georgia to further nurture her dance career. Even though this would seem to others to have been the chance of a lifetime, she chose not to do so but to continue using her talent in local area churches and communities. Several years later, she incorporated the ministry of dance and mime as an additional ministry tool.
Under her leaders Pastors Robert & Darlene Williams of the Favor International Ministries in Germany, she started the dance ministry which was later called the Judah (meaning praise) Dance Team! God once again opened doors that were far beyond her imagination. The Judah Team was sent out to minister through dance in various parts of Germany, Italy, and Amsterdam. During this time, Terese also knew that in addition to dancing she desired to enhance and learn even more about her God given talent and came under the tutelage of Vanessa Brown of The Shammah International Worship Center in Viernheim, Germany. Mrs. Brown, an avid dancer since a young age was indeed an inspiration from God who helped Terese reach an even higher dimension in her artistic journey.
Terese continues to recognize that God is worthy of all the praise, worship, glory and honor as she delightfully leads The Flames of Fire, the dance ministry of New Zion Christian Fellowship where Bishop G.L. Grace & First Lady Danielle Grace are the visionaries of the house. As a Karar student, she is ecstatic about the revelatory knowledge that is being taught about dance as she submits to the leadership of Minister LaVelle Clark as she too is led by God.
